As Thanksgiving draws nearer and fewer people are planning to travel for the holiday than last year, local gas prices are hovering at the same levels, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular unleaded is $3.27 a gallon, which is up a penny from last week.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $3,08, which is the same as last week, one cent higher than a month ago and 46 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $3.50, which is one cent more than last week, one cent more than a month ago and 28 cents less than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $3.51, which is one cent lower last week, unchanged from last month, and 32 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.60, which is one cent lower than a week ago, the same as last month and 32 cents lower than a year ago today.
“Honolulu gas prices continue to be lower than those in Los Angeles and San Francisco, but higher than in Las Vegas or Seattle,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
