As oil prices jumped on global markets earlier in the week, Hawaii gas prices reacted with a yawn, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.66 a gallon, which is the same as last Thursday, one cent higher than a month ago and 12 cents lower than on this date a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.54, which is unchanged for the week, one cent higher from a month ago and 10 cents lower than on this date last year. The Hilo average price is $3.76, which is one cent lower than last Thursday, unchanged from this date last month and 11 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $3.84, which is unchanged from last Thursday, also the same as a month ago and 23 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.82, which is three cents lower than last Thursday, unchanged from last month and 17 cents lower than a year ago today.
“We may yet see local prices react to oil prices increases based on attacks on Saudi Arabia production facilities last weekend if those facilities take longer than anticipated to be repaired, but so far prices continue to be steady,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
