Hawaii gas prices are down again over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The current state price average is $4.15, five cents less than the past week, 11 cents less than last month, and a nickel lower than a year ago.
Honolulu’s average price dropped by seven cents from last week to $4.05 a gallon. The price is 17 cents less than on this date a month ago and four cents less on this date a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.06 per gallon, down one cent from last week, two cents less than last month and 13 cents less than this time a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $4.239 a gallon, down a penny from last Thursday, three cents lower than last month and the same price on this date last year.
“Although we experienced more gas price declines throughout the islands this past week and we are within a nickel of $4 a gallon, Hawaii is the only state in the nation with average gas prices higher than $4,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “If the prices continue to drop as they have, we may see averages slide below the $4 mark.”
