For the second consecutive week, average gas prices in Hawaii remained relatively flat, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular is $3.18 a gallon, which is unchanged from last week, six cents less than a month ago and 47 cents less than the price on this date last year, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular dropped below $3 to $2.99 per gallon, one cent less than last week, six cents lower than a month ago and 53 cents less than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average price is $3.45 is one cent lower than a week ago, two cents lower than a month ago and 29 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $3.43, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, 12 cents lower than a month ago and 40 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.53, unchanged from last Thursday, one cent higher than last month and 32 cents lower than a year ago today.
“As other parts of the country are seeing prices climb by 5-6 cents per gallon, prices here have remained relatively level,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “While still much lower than this time last year, we expect prices to increase gradually as the economy gradually opens.”
