Average gas prices in Hawai’i stayed even, rose or fell, depending on the island, over the last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular is $3.20 a gallon, which is unchanged from last week, five cents more than a month ago and 45 cents less than the price on this date last year, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular dropped to $3.01, a penny lower than last week, one cent higher than a month ago and 52 cents less than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average price is $3.45, which is unchanged from a week ago, two cents more than a month ago and 27 cents lower than on this date a year ago.

In Kahului, the average price is $3.47, which is five cents higher than last Thursday, five cents higher than a month ago and 37 cents lower than on this date a year ago.  Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.50, unchanged from last Thursday, a penny lower than last month and 33 cents lower than a year ago today.

“We saw oil prices worldwide drop today out of concerns that there is still more oil available than is needed now,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “We will see if such a price drop affects our relatively stable prices here.”
