State Gas Price Average Drops Under $4

Hawaii average gas prices continued to drop this past week, with Honolulu slipping to $3.86 per gallon, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The current state price average is $3.97, four cents less than the past week, 15 cents less than last month, and six cents lower than a year ago.


Honolulu’s average price dropped by four cents a gallon and is 16 cents less than on this date a month ago and seven cents less on this date a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $3.92 per gallon, down four cents from last week, 13 cents less than last month and five cents less than this time a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $4.24 a gallon, down four cents from last Thursday, 12 cents lower than last month and six cents lower on this date last year.  


“Global oil prices continued to rapidly decline helping Hawaii motorists at the retail pump again this week,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “State average prices around the country continue to slide with: Alaska at $3.62 a gallon, California at $3.13 and Oregon at $3.07. Many states show averages in the high $2 a gallon range on”
