Hawaii gas price averages ticked up over the past week again throughout most of the islands, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The state average of $3.98 is four cents more than last week, a nickel more than last month and four cents less than on this day last year.
Honolulu’s average price is $3.88 a gallon for regular unleaded – up four cents from last week, six cents more than last month and nine cents less than a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $3.93 per gallon, three cents more than last week, five cents more than last month and seven cents less than this time a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $4.21 a gallon, unchanged from last week, four cents more than last month and 18 cents more on this day last year.
“A look in the New Year at monthly price averages around the U.S. show Alaska at $3.66 a gallon for unleaded, California at $3.66, Oklahoma at $3.05 and Montana at $3.02,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.
