Need a jump or possibly a new battery? AAA Hawaii now offers its members a fast and convenient mobile battery testing and replacement service on the Big Island in the greater Hilo, Kailua-Kona and Waimea areas. This is an expansion of AAA’s mobile battery service currently operating on Maui and Oahu.
“We’re pleased to team up with Benny’s Mobile Service to provide this valuable member benefit,” said AAA Hawaii Roadside Service Supervisor Ryan Raynes.
The AAA Battery Service offers mobile diagnostics of a vehicle’s battery, starting and charging systems using state-of-the-art equipment at no charge. If requested, faulty or failing batteries can be purchased and replaced on the spot for AAA members.
Last year, nearly 4,000 AAA Hawaii’s members had their roadside breakdown resolved with an on-the-spot AAA battery replacement, according to Raynes.
The AAA Battery Service technician arrives in a white truck or van marked with the AAA Battery Service logo, containing batteries that meet the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM) vehicle specifications.
Prices vary according to battery size and are available for most vehicles. In addition, AAA offers a six year warranty with free replacement during the first three years if the battery is found to be defective, according to Raynes. The mobile warranty is good throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Depending on numerous conditions, including vehicle use and climate, the average battery life in Hawaii is roughly two to three years. Slow turning of the engine indicates the battery may be weakening, said Raynes.
The AAA Battery Service minimizes the inconvenience of a failed battery by:
- Completing an on-the-spot battery, starting and charging system analysis
- Delivering a AAA battery to the member
- Professionally installing a AAA battery
