The Hawaii average state gas price stayed relatively flat compared to last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The $4.35 a gallon state average is the same as last Thursday, three cents less than last month and the same price as a year ago.
Honolulu’s average price remained steady at $4.34 a gallon for regular unleaded – unchanged for six weeks and ten cents more than a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.18 per gallon, up two cents from last week, three cents less than a month ago and 19 cents less than this time a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $4.46 a gallon, unchanged since last Thursday, equal to last month and 14 cents less than a last year.
“Prices have remained pretty flat for many weeks in most parts of the state,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “However, they are still the highest prices in the country. We recommend that drivers continue to drive moderately and use other gas saving methods, including properly inflated tires.”
