The Hawaii average state gas price was unchanged from last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The $4.36 a gallon state average is the same price as last Thursday, a penny less than last month and one cent less than on this day last year.

Honolulu’s average price remained steady at $4.34 a gallon for regular unleaded – unchanged for four weeks, the same price as last month and nine cents more than a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.19 per gallon, up two cents from last week, the same price on this day last month and 20 cents less than this time a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $4.45 a gallon, unchanged from last Thursday, the same price as last month and 12 cents less than on this day last year.

“Looking at state averages around the nation, California is at $4.12 a gallon for unleaded, Alaska is at $4.01 a gallon and Connecticut is at $3.92 a gallon,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “Residents should continue to shop around for the best price, and use a gentle driving style that avoids jack-rabbit starts and sharp stops, which wastes fuel.”
