The Hawaii state gas price average increased for the 10th straight week, while Honolulu’s average price nudged up to $4.30 a gallon, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The $4.34 state average is two cents more than last Thursday, 13 cents more than last month and two cents less than on this day last year.

Honolulu’s average price is $4.30 a gallon for regular unleaded – three cents more than last week, 16 cents more than last month and two cents less than a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.18 per gallon, three cents less than last week, 11 cents more than last month and 18 cents less than this time a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $4.43 a gallon, a penny more than last Thursday, nine cents more than last month and nine cents less on this day last year.

“Mainland gas prices have hit a plateau in some areas so perhaps Honolulu is not far behind,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “Motorists should continue to shop around, use a gentle driving style and consolidate their errands to drive as fuel efficiently as they possibly can,” she added.
