Gasoline prices have continued to decline with most cities seeing a two-cent drop, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular is $3.19 a gallon, two cents lower than last week, 13 cents less than a month ago and 45 cents less than the price on this date last year, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular finally reached $3, down two cents from last week, 17 cents lower than a month ago and 51 cents less than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average price is $3.46 unchanged compared to a week ago and a month ago and 28 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $3.45, which two cents lower than last Thursday, 13 cents lower than a month ago and 39 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.52, which is two cents lower than last Thursday, seven cents lower than last month and 32 cents lower than a year ago today.
“In the past week, Saudi Arabia increased its barrel price for oil, Hawaii’s only refinery continued to reduce production as did most refineries in the country, and demand increased incrementally,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “We may be nearing the low point for gasoline prices in the state.”
