Hawaii gas price averages declined over the past week throughout the islands providing motorists an early holiday gift, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The state average of $3.92 is unchanged from a week ago, six cents less than last month and six cents less than on this day last year.
Honolulu’s average price is $3.81 a gallon for regular unleaded – down one cent from last week, seven cents less than last month and nine cents less than a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $3.85 per gallon, three cents less than last week, five cents less than last month and 12 cents less than this time a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $4.16 a gallon, one cent less than last week, nine cents below last month and 15 cents less on this day last year.
“Prices declines returned to the islands this past week, a typical pattern for the end of the year,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “It’s good holiday news for locals, and visitors alike.”
