In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular reached $3.02, down three cents from last week, 21 cents lower than a month ago and 49 cents less than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average price is $3.46, down two cents compared to a week ago, three cents lower than on this date last month and 27 cents lower than on this date a year ago.

In Kahului, the average price is $3.47, which eight cents lower than last Thursday, 14 cents lower than a month ago and 35 cents lower than on this date a year ago.  Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.54, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, six cents lower than last month and 29 cents lower than a year ago today.

“Gas prices continue to decline in most regions of the state, but Hawaii remains the only state in the country with a statewide average above $3 per gallon, and $1.43 above the national average of $1.77,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
