Hawaii gas prices showed a mixed bag of increases and decreases in most local areas last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.58 a gallon, which is three cents less than last week, eight cents less than a month ago and 32 cents higher than on this date a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.45, which is down one cent from last week, down nine cents from a month ago and 34 cents higher than on this date last year. The Hilo average price is $3.73, which is one cent higher than a week ago, two cents lower than on this date last month and 34 cents higher than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $3.75, which is eight cents lower than last Thursday, eight cents lower than a month ago and 21 cents higher than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.87, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, two cents lower than last month and 39 cents higher than a year ago today.
“Hawaii gas prices may drop in coming weeks as many Pacific Rim refiners have seen demand decrease due to the coronavirus epidemic,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
