Hawaii gas prices are down again over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The current state price average is $4.22, three cents less than the past week, eight cents less than last month, and eight cents lower than a year ago.
Honolulu’s average price dropped by four cents from last week to $4.15 a gallon. The price is 10 cents less than on this date a month ago and three cents less on this date a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.10 per gallon, up two cents from last week, a nickel less than last month and 19 cents less than this time a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $4.40 a gallon, two cents less than last Thursday, three cents lower than last month and 13 cents less than last year.
“We experienced another week of gas price declines throughout most of the islands,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “Even more money can be saved at the pump by not speeding, and not accelerating quickly or braking sharply. Poor driving habits can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent at highway speeds and about 5 percent in the city.”
