AAA Weekend Gas Watch: Wailuku Below $4 A Gallon

Hawaii residents and visitors are continuing to enjoy cheaper gasoline and budget savings this holiday season, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The current state price average for a gallon of regular is $3.64, which is 11 cents less than the past week, 31 cents less than last month, and 28 cents lower than a year ago.

 

Honolulu’s average price of $3.53 dropped by 11 cents a gallon last week and is 31 cents less than last month and 28 cents less than on this date a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $3.58 per gallon, down 10 cents from last week, 27 cents less than last month and 27 cents less than this time a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.86 a gallon, down 19 cents from last Thursday, 36 cents lower than last month and 31 cents lower on this date last year.  The average price here had not been below $4 since February 2011, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

 

“Drivers across the country continue to enjoy falling prices at the retail pump for another week,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “State average prices continue to drop with Alaska at $3.30 a gallon, California at $2.80, Missouri at $2.15 and Nevada at $2.65. Many states show averages in the $2.30-$2.85 a gallon range on www.fuelgaugereport.aaa.com. Many motorists will see an average savings of $45 a month, according to economists.”
