AAA Weekend Gas Watch: More Savings As Prices Continue To Fall

As the New Year is continuing to unfold, the state price average for a gallon of gasoline is continuing its downward slide, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The current state average for a gallon of regular is $3.37, nine cents less than last week, 33 cents less than last month, and 65 cents lower than a year ago.

 

Honolulu’s average price of $3.21 dropped by 12 cents a gallon since last week and is 38 cents less than last month and 71 cents less than on this date a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $3.31 per gallon, down 10 cents from last week, 29 cents less than last month and 66 cents less than this time a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.65 a gallon, down a nickel from last week, 34 cents lower than last month and 59 cents less on this date last year.  

 

“There were more savings for Hawaii motorists this week,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “But Hawaii remains the only state above $3 a gallon while across the nation state average prices in 21 states fell below the $2 a gallon mark on www.fuelgaugereport.aaa.com.”
