AAA Weekend Gas Watch: Honolulu Hits $3 A Gallon

Once again, the state price average for a gallon of gasoline dropped this past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The current state average for a gallon of regular is $3.17, which is 12 cents less than last week, 36 cents less than last month, and 83 cents lower than a year ago.


For the first time since June 26, 2009, Honolulu’s average price is $3 a gallon. It dropped by 13 cents a gallon since last week and is 39 cents less than last month and 90 cents less than on this date a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $3.13 per gallon, down 14 cents from last week, 38 cents less than last month and 84 cents less than this time a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.44 a gallon, down 14 cents from last week, 31 cents lower than last month and 80 cents less on this date last year.  


“Honolulu motorists are enjoying another week of savings at the pump this week,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “But Hawaii remains the only state sitting above $3 a gallon, while Oklahoma has the least expensive fuel in the nation at $1.82 a gallon.
