Hawaii average gas price averages saw small price declines in some areas during the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The current Hawaii state average for a gallon of regular is $3.06, two cents less than last week, nine cents less than last month and $1.28 a gallon lower than a year ago.
Honolulu’s average gas price sits at $2.94, unchanged from last Thursday, 11 cents lower from last month and $1.36 a gallon less than a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $3.06 per gallon, three cents less than last week, eight cents less than last month and $1.12 less than this time a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.23, unchanged from last Thursday, the same price on this date last month and $1.18 less on this date last year.
“A snapshot around the country shows average gas prices range from $2 to $3 a gallon. California and Alaska are currently the only states with a gas price average higher than $3 -- with the Golden State at $3.19 a gallon and Alaska at $3.02. Other states are in the $2 a gallon range like Alabama at $2.29, Nevada at $2.84, and Washington at $2.76,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “Motorists can visit www.fuelgaugereport.aaa.com or use the AAA mobile app for the latest gas price information,” she added.
