AAA: Small Change In State Gas Prices

Average gas prices around the state moved a penny up or down over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular unleaded is $3.24 a gallon, one cent higher compared to last week, up two cents from last month and down 41 cents from a year ago at this time, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded stands at $3.06 per gallon, which is one cent higher than last week, one cent lower than a month ago and 48 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $3.48, which a penny lower than last week, two cents more than a month ago and 29 cents lower than on this date a year ago. 

In Kahului, the average price is $3.49, which is up one cent from last week and last month, and 35 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.59, which is one cent lower than last Thursday, a penny higher than last month and 24 cents lower than a year ago today. 

“Gasoline prices in the state have been very stable throughout the pandemic, moving only a penny or two in either direction for weeks,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “We expect this trend line to continue until demand increases.”
