Average gas prices around the state remained fairly flat with no large changes in sight, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular unleaded is $3.25 a gallon, one cent higher compared to last week, up three cents from last month and down 41 cents from a year ago at this time, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded stands at $3.07 per gallon, which is unchanged compared to last week, two cents higher than a month ago and 47 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $3.49, which is one cent lower than last week, two cents more than a month ago and 27 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $3.49 which is unchanged from both last week and last month, and 35 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.60, which is one cent higher than last Thursday, six cents higher than last month and 25 cents lower than a year ago today.
“Since demand and oil prices have remained relatively stable in recent weeks, gas prices have not moved significantly,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “We expect that prices will remain in this narrow band until either demand or wholesale prices change significantly.”
