Hawaii pump prices increased slightly throughout most of the islands during the last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.06, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, 11 cents higher than a month ago, and 43 cents higher than on this date a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com

In Honolulu, today’s average price is $2.93, which is the same price as last Thursday, 11 cents more than on this date last month and 47 cents higher than last year.  The Hilo average price is $3.02, which is three cents higher than last Thursday, 18 cents higher than on this date last month and 50 cents higher than on this date a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.45, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, five cents higher than on this date last month and 30 cents above this date a year ago.

“Drivers in the West Coast region continue to pay the nation’s highest averages for gasoline and the nation’s top four most expensive markets are all in this region: Hawaii, $3.06, California, $2.80, Alaska, $2.78 and Washington, $2.74,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “But the western region recently saw an unexpected gasoline stock increase of 2 million barrels to 30.5 million barrels, which may help keep prices relatively steady over the next week,” she added.
