Gas prices remained stable throughout most of the state, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.06, which is one cent more than last Thursday, one cent lower than a month ago, and 45 cents higher than on this date a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price is $2.91, which is unchanged since last Thursday, one cent less than on this date last month and 50 cents higher than last year. The Hilo average price is $3.05, which is up three cents since last week, the same price on this date last month and 41 cents higher than on this date a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.50, which is the same price as last Thursday, unchanged since on this date a month ago and 29 cents higher than on this date a year ago.
“Compared to this time last year, four West Coast states are experiencing some of the country’s biggest year-over-year price jumps: Alaska, (+62 cents), Washington, (+59 cents), Oregon, (+56 cents), and Hawaii, (+45 cents),” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “That’s why it’s so important for motorists to keep up on routine car maintenance, plan their errands and drive in a smooth and gentle manner to get the best gas mileage for the least impact on their family budgets.”
