AAA Hawaii: Gas Prices Creep Up

Hawaii pump prices rose throughout the islands since last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $2.90, which is one cent more than last Thursday, 10 cents higher than a month ago, and two cents higher on this date a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com 

In Honolulu, today’s average price is $2.79, which is up one cent from last Thursday, 11 cents more than on this date last month and seven cents higher than last year.  The Hilo average price is $2.82, which is up two cents since last Thursday, 15 cents higher than last month and two cents higher than on this date a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.31, which is two cents lower than last Thursday, eight cents more than on this date last month and one cent more than on this date a year ago.

“The West continues to be the priciest in the nation with the seven most expensive state averages:    Hawaii, $2.90, California, $2.80, Washington, $2.72, Alaska, $2.64, Oregon, $2.54, and Nevada, $2.52, and Idaho, $2.47,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “Hawaii motorists should continue to shop around for the best price and make sure their vehicle maintenance is current for the best fuel economy.”
