AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch: Prices Up For Second Week

For the second week in a row, Hawaii gas prices posted increases, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $2.66, up four cents from last week, four cents higher than a month ago, and 57 cents lower than a year ago, according to the www.AAAFuelGaugeReport.com.

 

In Honolulu, today’s average price is $2.45, which is three cents more than last week, up two cents from last month and 69 cents lower than last year.  The Hilo average price is $2.72, five cents higher than last Thursday, eight cents higher than last month and 46 cents lower than on this date a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.13, up four cents since last Thursday, one cent more than last month and 22 cents less than on this date a year ago.

 

“State average prices have remained very stable so far this year in a narrow range between $2.53 and $2.68 per gallon for regular unleaded,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “Today’s Hilo average price is the highest so far of 2016 and 20 cents higher than its 2016 low point of $2.52 on Jan. 13. Honolulu’s average prices in 2016 have stayed between $2.32 and $2.52 a gallon. And Wailuku’s 2016 prices have ranged between $3.08 and $3.23 per gallon. Prices typically do increase heading into the times of year when demand increases due to tourism and a general increase in driving.”
