Hawaii gas prices slipped slightly in Honolulu over the past week, but were mixed elsewhere in the islands, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The current state price average is $4.27, two cents less than the past week, six cents less than last month, and a nickel lower than a year ago.

Honolulu’s average price dropped by two cents from last week to $4.23 a gallon.  The price is eight cents less than on this date a month ago and the same price on this date a year ago. In Hilo, the average gas price is $4.14 per gallon, up four cents from last week, one cent less than last month ago and 15 cents less than this time a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $4.44 a gallon, unchanged since last Thursday, a penny lower than last month and seven cents less than last year.

“With the summer driving and traveling season behind us, we’re likely to see more price declines here and on the mainland,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “With thousands of people back at work and in school, plan your trips to avoid rush hour and other congested traffic times, if you can.”
