Statewide gas prices held steady over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $2.63, unchanged from a week ago, four cents less than last month and 47 cents less than a year ago, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
In Honolulu, today’s average price is $2.45, which is unchanged from last week, seven cents less than last month and 50 cents lower than last year. The Hilo average price is $2.58, unchanged from last Thursday, five cents higher than last month and 50 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.14, one cent lower since last week, four cents less than last month and 21 cents less than at this time last year.
“Honolulu and Hilo drivers continue to pay some of the lowest gas prices since 2009,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “Nationwide, consumers in 44 states are paying average prices below $2 per gallon. The nation’s least expensive markets for retail gasoline are Missouri ($1.45) and Kansas ($1.52). Hawaii ($2.63) and California ($2.54) continue to be the nation’s most expensive markets for gasoline.”
