AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch: Prices Drop Down

Hawaii prices declined slightly over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The statewide average price dipped by two cents to $2.87 a gallon, which is the same price on this date last month and $1.15 lower than on this date last year.

 

Honolulu’s average gas price is $2.72 today, a penny less than last week, one cent more than last month and $1.19 less than this time last year.   In Hilo, the average gas price is $2.78 per gallon, two cents less than last Thursday, four cents less than last month and $1.19 less than this time a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.30, two cents less than last Thursday, a penny less than last month and 99 cents a gallon less than on this date a year ago.  

 

“For the fifth consecutive week, drivers in every state are paying retail averages below $3 per gallon with states west of the Rockies leading the market: Hawaii ($2.87), California ($2.83), Nevada ($2.71), Washington ($2.46) and Alaska ($2.41),” according to AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “Drivers in South Carolina ($1.91) and Alabama ($1.94) are paying the nation’s lowest averages at the pump, and eight states are posting averages below $2 per gallon,” she added.

 

“Motorists can find current prices along their route with the free AAA Mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android, available at AAA.com/mobile. The app also can be used by AAA members to map a trip, find discounts, book a hotel and access AAA roadside assistance,” she said.
