Hawaii gas prices continued to decline throughout the islands over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price is $2.73, four cents less than last Thursday, 11 cents less than last month and 94 cents less than a year ago.
Honolulu’s average gas price is $2.56 today, five cents less than last Thursday, 15 cents less than last month and $1.00 less than this time last year. In Hilo, the average gas price is $2.60 per gallon, four cents lower than last week, 12 cents less than last month and 99 cents less than this time a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.27, two cents less than last Thursday, a nickel less than last month and 63 cents less than at this time last year.
“Overall, pump prices continue to fall due to declining oil prices and robust inventories,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “Motorists nationwide continue to experience year-over-year savings, Alaska (-92 cents) and Hawaii (-99 cents) are the only two states where the year-over-year savings averages are more than 75 cents per gallon.”
Motorists can find current prices along their route with the free AAA Mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android, available at AAA.com/mobile. The app also can be used by AAA members to map a trip, find discounts, book a hotel and access AAA roadside assistance.
