Hawaii residents saw average gas prices dip around most of the islands this past week and Honolulu’s average gas price declined by four cents to $2.75 a gallon, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.  The current Hawaii state average for a gallon of regular slipped to $2.90, down a nickel from last week, 27 cents less than last month and $1.33 a gallon lower than a year ago.

Honolulu’s average gas price is 27 cents lower than a month ago and $1.41 less than this time last year.  In Hilo, the average gas price is $2.88 per gallon, two cents more than last week, 34 cents less than last month and $1.22 cents less than this time a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.30, two cents less since last Thursday, 13 cents less on this date last month and $1.10 a gallon less than on this date last year.

“The majority of consumers nationwide are continuing to see falling prices at the pump. Hawaii ($2.90) joins Alaska ($3.08), California ($3.01), Nevada ($2.97) and Utah ($2.71) as the top five most expensive gasoline markets in the country today.  But in Alabama ($1.96), Mississippi ($1.95), New Jersey ($1.99), South Carolina ($1.93) and Tennessee ($1.99) motorists are paying the lowest pump prices in the nation,” according to AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “Motorists can find current gas prices along their route with the free AAA Mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android, available at AAA.com/mobile. The app also can be used by AAA members to map a trip, find discounts, book a hotel and access AAA roadside assistance.”
