AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch: Prices Stable

As holiday celebrations get underway, Hawaii gas prices rested over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.29, unchanged from last Thursday, six cents higher than a month ago and 32 cents more than a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com. 

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.12, unchanged since last Thursday, four cents higher than a month ago and 28 cents higher than last year at this time. The Hilo average price is $3.26, which is unchanged from last Thursday, five cents more than on this date last month and 39 cents higher than on this date a year ago.  Wailuku’s average is $3.76, the same price as last Thursday, eight cents higher than a month ago and 37 cents higher than on this date a year ago.

“With local gas prices resting, the Energy Information Administration’s latest report for the West Coast region shows that gasoline inventories hit a new seven-month high at 30 million barrels,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “Refinery crude input rates climbed to 94 percent, helping to send regional gasoline inventories to their highest point this year – meaning gas prices should remain stable for the next few weeks.”
