Hawaii gas prices have stayed mostly stable for more than a month, with Hilo gaining back the slight price dip from the previous week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.11, which is unchanged from last Thursday, the same price on this date a month ago and 22 cents more than a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $2.94, which is unchanged from last Thursday, and on this date last month and 16 cents higher than last year. The Hilo average price is $3.13, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, one cent lower on this date last month and 34 cents higher on this date a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.54, which is up a penny from last Thursday, the same price on this date last month and 23 cents higher than on this date a year ago.
“Gas prices in our region continue to remain stable, while California anticipates a 12-cent a gallon price increase to fund transportation improvements,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida. “On a traffic safety note, AAA reminds pedestrians that Honolulu Police will now enforce the first texting while walking law enacted by a major city in the nation. So be alert, look both ways and pocket your phone or digital camera to walk and cross safely.”
