AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch: Prices Slip Slightly

Hawaii gas prices mostly decreased slightly or were flat throughout most of the islands, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.51 a gallon, which is the same price as last Thursday, one cent higher than a month ago and 45 cents more than a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.35, unchanged since last Thursday, one cent higher than on this date a month ago and 45 cents higher than last year at this time. The Hilo average price is $3.52, which is two cents lower than last Thursday, three cents less than on this date last month and 48 cents higher than on this date a year ago. 

“According to the Energy Information Administration’s latest weekly report, total gasoline stocks in the western part of the U.S. continue to sit at 32.8 million barrels.  This is approximately 4.2 million barrels more than they were at this time last year.” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “AAA Hawaii encourages motorists to continue to shop around for the best price and to consolidate errands to gain the most fuel efficiency.”

In Kahului the average price is $3.92, one cent lower than last Thursday, two cents lower than on this date last month and 44 cents higher than on this date a year ago.  Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.61, which is one cent lower than last Thursday, one cent lower than on this date last month and 29 cents more than a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.92, one cent lower than last Thursday, two cents lower than a month ago and 44 cents higher than on this date a year ago.
