With the exception of Honolulu, Hawaii gas prices were flat or declined throughout most of the islands, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.50 a gallon, a penny more than last Thursday, nine cents higher than a month ago and 42 cents more than a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.35, one cent higher than last Thursday, 11 cents higher than on this date a month ago and 41 cents higher than last year at this time. The Hilo average price is $3.54, which is the same price as last Thursday, 13 cents more than on this date last month and 48 cents higher than on this date a year ago.

“According to the Energy Information Administration, gasoline inventories saw a draw down for the third consecutive week; decreasing by 1 million barrels,” said AAA Hawaii General Manager Liane Sumida.  “Still, inventories now sit at more than 33 barrels higher than they were at this time last year.  Planned maintenance at refineries in the region has helped to lower stocks.”

In Kahului the average price is $3.91, one cent lower than last Thursday, five cents higher than on this date last month and 42 cents higher than on this date a year ago.  Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.62, which is the price as last Thursday, one cent lower than on this date last month and 29 cents more than a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $3.91, one cent lower than last Thursday, five cents higher than a month ago and 42 cents higher than on this date a year ago.
