Gas prices were relatively flat throughout the islands in the last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.64 a gallon, which is unchanged since last Thursday, four cents higher than a month ago and six cents lower as on this date a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.53, which is one cent higher than last Thursday, seven cents higher than on this date a month ago and five cents lower as on this date last year. The Hilo average price is $3.73, which is down two cents from last Thursday, three cents higher than on this date last month and two cents higher than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $3.84, which is unchanged since last Thursday, five cents higher than on this date last month and 15 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.84, which is one cent lower than last Thursday, the same price as on this date last month and four cents lower than a year ago today. Wailuku’s average is $3.84, which is the same price as last Thursday, five cents higher than on this date a month ago and 15 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
“Oil prices in the U.S. and internationally have been on a downward trend in recent weeks which helps to temper the price at the pump,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “Nevertheless, drivers should continue to seek prices below the average price in their region to save money.”
