Hawaii gas prices experienced small increases throughout the islands over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.76 a gallon, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, four cents higher than a month ago and 71 cents more than a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.61, which is one cent higher than last Thursday, one cent higher than on this date a month ago and 72 cents higher than last year at this time. The Hilo average price is $3.81, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, 10 cents more than on this date last month and 78 cents higher than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului the average price is $4.08, which is four cents higher than last Thursday, six cents higher than on this date last month and 63 cents higher than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.89, which is three cents higher than last Thursday, three cents higher on this date last month and 58 cents more than a year ago. Wailuku’s average is $4.08, which is up four cents since last Thursday, six cents higher than a month ago and 60 cents higher than on this date a year ago.
“Some states in the western United States continued to see flat or price declines: California ($3.66), Washington, ($3.43), Alaska ($3.40), Nevada ($.3.24) and Arizona ($2.98),” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “Hawaii’s state average saw a small two-cent a gallon increase since last week.”
