Hawaii gas prices barely moved up or stayed the same in most areas to end the year, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular unleaded is $3.28 a gallon, which is unchanged from last Thursday.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $3.12, which is one cent higher than last week, three cents higher than last month, and 42 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $3.49, which is one cent lower than last week, one cent higher than last month, and 29 cents less than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $3.50, which is one cent more than last week, the same as last month, and 34 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.63, which is one cent higher than last week, five cents higher than last month and 26 cents lower than a year ago today.
“While much of the nation is seeing gas price increases due to higher oil prices compared to mid-year, Hawai’i still is experiencing very moderate changes due to temperate demand here,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “These stable prices may remain going into 2021 until business and tourism increase.”
