Hawaii gas prices increased or dropped by as much as four cents depending on the region during the last week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular unleaded is $3.33 a gallon, which is up three cents from last Thursday.

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $3.17, which is up four cents from a week ago, eight cents higher than last month, and 37 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $3.51, which is one cent higher than last week, five cents higher than last month, and 25 cents less than on this date a year ago.

In Kahului, the average price is $3.53, which is unchanged compared to last week, five cents higher than last month, and 31 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.64, which is four cents lower than last week, two cents higher than last month and 24 cents lower than a year ago today.

“We’re seeing the continuing result of higher crude oil prices internationally affecting local fuel prices despite low demand,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.  “While prices are increasing in most areas, the state average still is 33 cents below the same time last year.
