Local gasoline prices jumped again during the last week, reflecting increased oil prices, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price for regular unleaded is $3.36 a gallon, which is up five cents from last Thursday and 12 cents higher than a month ago.

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $3.29, which is up six cents from a week ago, 11 cents higher than last month, and 15 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $3.61, which is up six cents from last week, 11 cents higher than last month, and 13 cents less than on this date a year ago.

In Kahului, the average price is $3.64, which is unchanged compared to last week, ten cents higher than last month, and 12 cents lower than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.75, which is six cents higher than last week, 10 cents higher than last month and 12 cents lower than a year ago today.

“With two weeks of strong gas price increases, the state average is within 13 cents of where it was a year ago,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.  “Still, the state average is 27 cents below the California average.”
