Residents and visitors to Hawaii over the Memorial Day holiday weekend will pay the lowest pump prices since 2021 for this holiday period, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.49, which is the same as last week and 30 cents lower than a year ago. The national average gas price is $3.19, which is also the same as last week and 42 cents less than a year ago.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded gas is $4.41, which is unchanged from last week and 27 cents lower than a year ago. The Hilo average gas price is $4.65, which is one cent lower than last week and 25 cents lower than a year ago.
The average price in Kahului is $4.48, which is three cents lower than last week and 34 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average regular price is $5.05, which is four cents less than last week and 21 cents lower than a year ago.
"A record number of Hawaii and other Pacific state travelers are expected to take Memorial Day getaways this weekend and will be paying the lowest gas prices for this holiday since 2021 during the pandemic,“ said Liane Sumida, general manager of AAA Hawaii. AAA members can take advantage of discounted gas prices at participating Shell gas stations by joining the Shell Fuel Rewards® program.
