Gas prices remained stable in most areas of Hawaii over the past week, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The average regular unleaded gas price for Hawaii is $4.79, which is one cent lower than last week. The average national price is $3.65, which is ten cents higher than last Thursday.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.69, which is the same as last week, seven cents lower than last month, and 46 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.81, which is one cent higher than last week, two cents lower than last month, and 47 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.85 is two cents lower than last week, three cents lower than last month and 49 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.23, which is the same as last week, four cents lower than last month, and 20 cents lower than a year ago.
“Oil prices are hovering about $80 a barrel after plunging to a one-year low point of $72 for Brent crude and $66 for West Texas crude in mid-March,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “So far, that has had little impact on gas prices locally.”
