Gas prices remained largely unchanged statewide in the last week except in Maui, where they dropped back to the same level as two weeks ago, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The average regular unleaded gas price for Hawaii is $4.76, which is one cent lower than last week. The average national price is $3.45, which is eight cents lower than last Thursday.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.63, which is unchanged from last week, 15 cents lower than last month, and 54 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.88, which is also the same as last week, 15 cents lower than last month, and 19 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.81 is five cents lower than last week, one cent lower than last month, and 49 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.28, which is one cent higher than last week, seven cents lower than last month, and 25 cents lower than a year ago.
“Oil prices are remaining about in the middle of their highest and lowest points of the year, so we have not seen much movement in gas prices locally,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
