Hawaii gas prices have not moved much in the past week, hovering at average levels under $5 a gallon in most areas, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The average regular unleaded gas price for Hawaii is $4.94, which is the same as last week. The average national price is $3.50, which is also unchanged from last Thursday.

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.86, which is one cent lower than last week, 11 cents lower than last month, and 56 cents higher than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.92, which is one cent lower than last week, seven cents lower than last month, and 51 cents higher than on this date a year ago.

In Kahului, the average price of $4.96 is one cent higher than last week, 12 cents lower than last month and 38 cents higher than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.38, which is the same as last week, three cents lower than last month, and 67 cents higher than a year ago.

“Hawaii’s gas prices continue to be the most expensive in the country,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “For drivers who are interested in avoiding these high gas prices by going electric, AAA has a new resource available – the AAA Used EV Buyer’s Guide.”

AAA members can also take advantage of discounted gas prices at participating Shell gas stations by joining the Shell Fuel Rewards® program.
