Gas prices barely moved over the past week just as travelers are getting ready for Thanksgiving holiday trips in record numbers, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.57, which is the same as last week. The national average gas price is $3.06, which is two cents lower than last week.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.45, which is the same as last week and 16 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.75, which is one cent higher than last week and 11 cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.61 is one cent lower than last week and 18 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.20, which is unchanged from last week and seven cents lower than a year ago.
“Thanksgiving travelers in Hawaii will pay less to fill up for their trips than any Thanksgiving holiday since 2021,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager. “AAA Hawaii members who will travel to other states this holiday and rent cars can use the free AAA Mobile app to find the lowest gas prices near them.”
