Gas prices throughout the state remained the same or declined slightly for the week after rising through much of September, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The average regular unleaded gas price for Hawaii is $4.87, which is one cent lower than last week. The average national price is $3.77, which is seven cents lower than last Thursday.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.77, which is one cent lower than last week, nine cents higher than last month, and 42 cents lower than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $5.01, which is the same as last week, 13 cents higher than last month, and six cents lower than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.84 is the same as last week, one cent higher than last month, and 50 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.33, which is one cent lower than last week, four cents higher than last month, and 23 cents lower than a year ago.
“Oil prices have backed off their record high levels for 2023, so that factor is not adding to upward pressure for pump prices right now,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
