Hawaii gas prices are unchanged or down slightly for the week heading into the Labor Day holiday weekend, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for Hawaii is $4.08, which is the same as last week. The average national price is $3.18, up three cents from last week.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $3.99, which is down one cent from a week ago, down two cents from last month, and 94 cents higher than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.13, which is the same price for five consecutive weeks, unchanged from last month, and 64 cents higher than on this date a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price is $4.13, which is unchanged for three weeks, three cents higher than last month, and 64 cents higher than on this date a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $4.32, which also is unchanged for three weeks, two cents lower than last month and 73 cents higher than a year ago today.
“Hurricane Ida shut down refineries on the Gulf Coast this weekend, but that is not expected to have much impact on Hawaii gas prices because the state receives no oil or refined fuel from there,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
