Hawaii gas prices moved very little over the past week as a record number of travelers prepare to drive, fly and ride to Independence Day holiday getaways, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s statewide average price is $3.64 a gallon, which is one cent lower than last Thursday, unchanged from a month ago and ten cents lower than on this date a year ago, according to GasPrices.AAA.com

In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.52, which is a penny lower than last Thursday, also a penny lower than on this date a month ago and eight cents lower than on this date last year. The Hilo average price is $3.73, which is down one cent from last Thursday, two cents more than on this date last month and five cents lower than on this date a year ago.

In Kahului, the average price is $3.83, which is unchanged from last Thursday, the same price as on this date last month and 25 cents lower than on this date a year ago.  Lihue’s average price for regular is $3.82, which is two cents lower than last Thursday, one cent lower than on this date last month and six cents lower than a year ago today.  Wailuku’s average is $3.83, which is unchanged from last Thursday, the same price as on this date a month ago and 25 cents lower than on this date a year ago.

“Oahu and Maui are among this year’s top ten destinations for Independence Day travelers, so that may boost local gasoline demand in the next week or so,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
