Gas prices remain steady this week following a statewide increase in most cities at the end of April, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.82, which is the same as last week. The national average gas price is $3.64, three cents less than last week.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded is $4.70, which is the same as last week, ten cents higher than last month, and two cents higher than the price on this date last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.91, which is the same as last week, eight cents higher than last month, and 12 cents higher than a year ago.
In Kahului, the average price of $4.90 which is the same as last week, 12 cents higher than last month, and seven cents higher than a year ago. Lihue’s average price for regular is $5.27, which is the same as last week, four cents higher than last month, and three cents higher than a year ago.
“While gas prices nationwide are decreasing due to refineries operating at higher capacities, Hawaii gas prices have remained steady,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaii general manager.
