The AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch indicates gas prices are slightly dropping in many cities statewide. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.54, two cents lower than last week and 15 cents lower than a year ago. The national average gas price is $3.04, two cents higher than last week.
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular unleaded gas is $4.45, one cent less than week and nine cents lower than last year. The Hilo average gas price is $4.68, three cents lower than last week and ten cents lower than a year ago.
The average price in Kahului is $4.58, one cent lower than last week and 23 cents lower than a year ago. Lihue’s average regular price is $5.17, one cent lower than last week and seven cents lower than a year ago.
"Gas prices are seeing a modest decline, although there are some minor fluctuations in certain regions,” said Liane Sumida, general manager of AAA Hawaii. AAA members can take advantage of discounted gas prices at participating Shell gas stations by joining the Shell Fuel Rewards® program
